Thoughts of someone recovering from a head cold

Do you ever get lazy about actually putting a new roll of toilet paper into the holder? I set out new toilet paper yesterday and despite the fact that I look directly at it, I can’t seem to stop myself from grabbing at the empty roll.

Will getting off the couch and going to get a new movie actually solve my growing fidgetiness? I’ve been on the couch for about a day and a half now and it’s starting to get old (but I am starting to feel better).

Are there massage therapists that will work on people with colds? I tend to get uncomfortable when I get sick and massages always sound like a good idea (though probably not so much for the massage therapist). For now I’m sticking to my nice hot showers with some peppermint extract.

There are days like today when I wish that I could eat Saltines with some tomato soup for lunch. I suppose I could actually do it… I just probably wouldn’t feel healthy for another month or so. Makes me sad. Where are the gluten free saltines?!

More Changes

It seems like there are lots of changes that I’m settling into right now. But I am settling into them, which is nice. So I’m ready to impose a new one on myself…

This morning (when I wasn’t sleeping due to a lovely bout of insomnia) I signed up for SparkPeople. I’m tracking what I eat. Tracking my exercise. I’m recommitting to myself. Over the past few years I haven’t focused on my body as much as I should. I’ve let it become something that I don’t really recognize… that I’m uncomfortable and unhappy with. Definitely time for a change there.

And body, I’m sorry. I’ll fix it. We’ll be happy and healthy again soon, I promise.

Overload

It’s been busy around here recently. My mom came up for a visit last weekend for my birthday, Jesse finished up all his make-up finals (the ones that got snowed out), we had a meeting with our financial planner, Jesse had a thyroid disorders seminar and we went out with his mentor (the guy he’ll be working with in SD for a while after graduation) and his wife.

The funny thing is that I know this isn’t too much more than normal, but thanks to my awesome auto-immune hypothyroidism (hashimoto’s), things feel busy. The blood test results I just got back indicate that a little piece of my thyroid died off recently – which totally explains why I’ve been having trouble focusing on even simple tasks and getting things done. Hopefully now that I’ve upped my Armour dose things will be back to “normal” soon.

Since my brain hasn’t been in the mood to handle too much, I decided that now would be a good time to finally watch some videos on the internet that I’ve been meaning to check out. I found them completely worthwhile and am glad I finally got around to watching them.

November 28: It’s the Little Things (aka Thank you Garlic Jim’s)

Today we tried the gluten free pizza at Garlic Jim’s and it was good. Even though there isn’t one too close to us (about 30 minutes away – which doesn’t work out so well for take-out which is our only option), I’m really happy to know that there’s gluten-free pizza in the area, even if don’t feel like making pizza at home.

Thank you Garlic Jim’s. I can once again purchase pizza without feeling sick afterward or getting red spots on my face.

November 5: Under the weather

I’ve finished my 3 days of master cleanse and am on the 2nd day of my ClearVite cleanse… I’ve been feeling really great. And yet, this afternoon I noticed a sore throat come on. And a little fogginess in my head. As much as I love the fall, I know Fall is the season of the office cold (which I must have finally caught). Ugh this is what I get for joking about taking some sick days. My gift to myself and everyone in my office is that I’m not going into work tomorrow (and luckily I was working from home today).

Vitamin C and Umcka Cold Care Hot Drink, here I come!
