Nicole & Holidays

If you’ve seen me in action for more than about 10 minutes you know I’m an organizer. My friends tease me for my year ahead holiday card buying and month early card writing. They tease me for my orange and black box of Halloween decorations that ideally I’d put up at the beginning of October (this year it went up slowly and in stages for my suitemate’s sanity). Let me just say… this is just the beginning.

I’m looking forward to making new friends and having a home to decorate and throw seasonal parties at. I want to be that person who reliably has a party for every major holiday. I want to pull together all sorts of different groups of people. And most of all, I want it to be cute and lots of fun. I’d love to be that person who people think “Oh good, Nicole’s doing Thanksgiving dinner this year!”

A few days ago I got my newest Real Simple in the mail and was so excited to see an article called “25 Ways to Get Ahead For the Holidays”… I mean, not only is it fun holiday stuff, it’s how to do it ahead of time! And we all know how much I like to do things ahead of time.

Call me crazy if you will, but I think the holidays are fantastic. And I think celebrating holidays with a lot of people and fun (and I’m not just talking about winter holidays) is the best way to go. We’ve never had all that many family traditions around any holidays in my house, but the more I read about little things people do, the more I think that I’d like to find some cute little things to make my own. Any suggestions?

(Goodness it’s hard work trying to get my future self organized! Just kidding.)

Ok, my friend who told me about the free iPod deal got her’s in the mail 2 days ago. So, if you’d like to help me get mine (I only need 3 more people to actually get verified), please use my referral link to sign up. You can check out my friend’s post on getting her iPod here.

Dying

I think my computer is going to die. Not a good thing. I wasn’t planning to spend the money for a new computer right now. Grr.

Apparently Procrastination is Rewarded Here

Over my nice long fall break I spent a lot of time studying to a midterm scheduled for today. I also spent a lot of time this week studying for said midterm… there’s a lot of material we need to know and I wanted to be sure to know it. This morning at 7 am the class got an e-mail saying that due to widespread panic and confusion about the test (plus problems with accessing the lecture slides last night), the test is postponed until next Friday. Really, it pisses me off. Whoever complained probably didn’t spend their break (while they were sick!) studying and probably just started last night. Obviously unprepared… and now I have to spend another week of my time worrying and studying for this test when I should be working on other assignments. Grr. Stupid people. Procrastination should never pay off.

Strange Noises

The fan (I hope that’s all it is) on my laptop has started making bad noises. And I have resorted to hitting my laptop to get it to stop. Certainly a bad situation. I definitely need to get this fixed soon. The only problem is I really need to have my computer in my room… and I don’t know anything about changing a fan on a laptop. Any suggestions?
