Ok, ok, not really. But I’m getting a little annoyed by how much they cost!
Personally, I’d like something a little different… if we do a sit down reception it had better have some personality to it. Part of the problem lies in the fact that we have so many options (and I’d love some opinions):
A wedding in Portland, OR area. This makes sense because we’ll be up in Portland for the 9 months (or more?) leading up to the wedding. It also means we won’t have to travel to get to our wedding. The people we know in this area consist of maybe 10 people, all of which are members of Jesse’s family. The other perk of getting married in Oregon is that things seem to be at least slightly cheaper. Of course, I’d assume not as many people will come if they have to pay for travel, which means that cheaper price per guest doesn’t necessarily mean we get to have more guests. I’d want a more substantial reception or wedding to do up here since people would have spent time/money to come.
A wedding in San Diego, CA area. This makes sense because we both grew up in San Diego. Our friends from high school (who watched the whole beginning of our relationship) are still, for the most part, in this area, meaning they’d be more likely to attend. My family (all 3ish of them) are in San Diego. Jesse has 3 or 4 family members still in San Diego. Jesse’s college friends will all still be in San Diego. Unfortunately, things seem more expensive in San Diego. Of course, we do know people who have gotten married in San Diego who might be able to give us some suggestions (hint hint) and having lived there forever we know about some of the options in the area.
Additionally I hate the idea of spending a lot of money on a wedding (though at the same time, I would like it to be nice) because:
1) I have something like $20,000 of loans to pay off
2) Jesse will just be starting to take out lots more money in loans
3) Where the heck are we going to get the money from?!
4) Why spend that much money on one day when it could go toward loan payments, car payments or a house fund?
Grr. Ok, I’d better do some schoolwork now.
