Finding Bedroom Linens

Jesse and I keep looking for duvet covers and the like, but it’s hard to find something we’d actually like to have. So many things are just so cheesy.

Enter Restoration Hardware. Why must they be so expensive? I really like this set, but there’s more or less no way in hell we can afford it. Granted, I’d also like to see it in person before swearing to love it and want it, but apparently it’s internet/catalog only. Go figure. Maybe we can find something like it in sheets and make our own cover? (Fat chance, but I’ll be on the lookout!) It totally sucks to always wind up liking things that are sooo much more expensive than we can afford (like my undying love of Le Cruset cookware in part because of the beautiful colors)… but I suppose I’ll be able to live with whatever more regularly priced duvet cover we find.

Finally! The Invitations Are Finished.

My Saturday & Sunday were spent putting these puppies together.

After 2 days of clipping and gluing and stuffing, the invitations are finally done (except for 2 that we don’t have addresses for yet). If it weren’t raining right now they’d probably even be in the mailbox. It was totally worth it… they’re very cute, though some of them are a little crooked or off center. But hey, they were made with love. =) And yes, those are little rhinestones in the center of each flower… those took forever, but boy do they make the invitations look nice.

I can hardly believe the wedding is in 2 months. It still seems really fake to me. I’m sure it’ll be fun though… and it’s going to be great to get to see everyone!

On Our Own

Everyone is going to be gone from the house Saturday through Monday except for me and Jesse. Since we’ll be on our own I’m thinking about using it as a good excuse to do some cooking. I’m thinking about making a pot of chili Saturday and corned beef on Sunday… but I’ll have to go through all my recipes when I get home to make sure there isn’t something else fun we’d be missing out on.

It should be a fun weekend consisting of:
- Cooking
- Putting together wedding invitations (assuming that they’re ready this afternoon… and boy they’d better be!)
- Going to Target to register for towels (the first set we registered for I decided I hated so we’re going to try again)
- Relaxing!
- Going to the denist (Saturday morning)
- Spinning (Saturday morning)
- Yoga (Sunday morning)
- Who knows what else

What are you doing this weekend?

Invitation Disappointment Once Again

The invitations are back at the printer’s again because this time when the cut the paper, they cut it too small. Seriously… these puppies need to get back to me soon seeing as I need to get them assembled and mailed out in the next week. I’ve done all the other prep work on them that I can possibly do.

Ah the joys of planning a wedding. But in good news, I may have found a nail polish that I like for the wedding.

Because Anything That Can Go Wrong…

We got our wedding invitations back from the printers the other day. Since we had been planning to cut scalloped edges on the top layer, on my way home the other night I drove past the scrapbooking store with the fantastic scalloped edge paper cutter AND IT WAS COMPLETELY GONE. When I got home I checked online… fortunately they had just moved and would be reopening February 4th. My wedding is April 1st, so February 4th is actually a little too late for me… all invitations should be out by that time.

I went home and had Donna pull out her collection of decorative edged scissors thinking we could test if we really liked the scalloped edges and if not just take them back to the printers to get them straight cut. Amazingly she had a fabulous pair of scissors that only cut the corners. In about 5 minutes the almost disaster turned into us having an even better looking, faster to assemble invitation. They’re going to look really really sharp… I’ll post a picture once we get some assembled (currently we’re getting the printed layer of the invitation reprinted due to a small spacing issue).

I am sooo thankful that the situation was resolved quickly and easily… more stress is not what I need.
