Memorial Day Weekend

I spent most of my Memorial Day weekend doing two things 1)reading 2)napping. Exciting life I lead… I know. But the best part is that I didn’t get sick despite Donna being sick all weekend. It’s an amazing feat for me. Plus, I wound up reading most of The Virgin’s Lover which I got in the mail on Saturday. It worked out quite well since it rained all weekend, only stopping partway through Monday… well and for a few hours on Sunday while we were at a bbq. Today it is a beautiful 70 degrees and sunny, making me want to go for a walk (which I’ll probably do once I get home).
Obviously I’ve been sort of absent from this site. Why? I don’t know… possibly a lack of things to talk about, growing frustration (from not being able to work out as much as I’d like and not being able to get my eating in order), and just forgetting to post things here. I’ll work on it, I promise.

Silly fun from years ago

3 years ago when I was a summer intern I had fun entering some of my dollar bills into wheresgeorge.com. It was fun until I realized that none of my bills were actually getting entered into the system even a second time. The same thing (fun, then disappointment) happened to me with BookCrossing where you label some of your books, then leave them lying around. The goal is that someone will pick them up, read them, and enter it into the website.

Today at work a coworker asked me if I had heard of where’s george, apparently it was written on one of his dollars. I told him that I had entered some bill in the past, but had disappointed because nothing happened. So he entered his bill and I thought it would be fun to check if years and years later, anyone had actually entered the bills I had used. Low and behold 3 bills have been entered! It gives me a least a little hope that some fun will come out of the website still. Sadly, it gave me hope that one of my books had been found and entered, but no such luck. I wonder what happened to them… it makes me sad to think that they may have just been ruined in the weather or thrown out.

Our Last Wedding Event

This past weekend we had our Northwest wedding reception (that’s what I like to call it at least). Fortunately, it was a small party. Guest list: me, Jesse, Donna (Jesse’s mom), Larry (Jesse’s dad), Tyson (Jesse’s brother), Mukka (Jesse’s grandma), Diane (Donna’s sister), Bud (Larry’s brother), and Lonnie (Bud’s wife). Small, intimate and finally over. It was a great opportunity for us to spend some time with family members in the area who for one reason or another we don’t see terribly often. We gorged on wonderful food (too many m&ms, an amazing tart donna made, a fabulous store bought cake, and a huge salad) and talked and opened gifts.

It was a great get together, but Jesse and I are both sharing the same sentiment: Thank goodness all the wedding events are over. We’re totally ready to move on with our lives and more wedding stuff isn’t helping. Now we’re down to just a few more wedding thank you notes and creating a photo album (goal to finish the photo album by the end of the year).

Post Wedding Shower

We had planned to have a shower up here in the Portland area since people from up here weren’t able to make it to the shower in San Diego. Because Jesse’s grandma died around the time it was supposed to happen, we decided to postpone it until after the wedding. So, we’re planning one for May 13th (as far as I know).

What I want to know is should we invite our new friends to the shower? Originally the plan was not to since we hadn’t done much with anyone and it seemed odd to invite people to an event where people usually bring gifts for one of our first get togethers. But, now we’ve done a bit more with people. Should we invite a few friends? Should I invite people I work with? Or should we leave it just family? To add to the weirdness… friends up here and co-workers weren’t invited to the wedding (though they certainly heard all about it!).We’re planning to make it a couples shower this time, as opposed to the girls only shower we had before the wedding… especially since that way we’ll actually get to see more family and friends. I’m so torn. Thoughts?

(Apparently the wedding stuff really does never end.)
