Recent Media Frenzy

I’ve been reading a lot. And watching a lot of tv/movies.

Twilight started it – I watched the movie, then read the books, then watched the movie (possibly a few more times), then collected the music Stephenie Meyer listed having listened to for the various novels. Thankfully I think I’m just about over the Twilight fanatacism.

Now I’m devouring Wuthering Heights again. I had read it before, but couldn’t for the life of me remember anything about it! Now it’s seeming really familiar, but I still can’t remember more than a chapter ahead of where I am.

Casablanca is next on the top 100 list for us and I’m thinking we might need to watch that one this weekend (yes, somehow I’ve never seen it). And for some reason I’m thinking there are some movies I wanted to see that just came out on video. Thankfully I don’t have to watch those this weekend – I can wait for a few weeks til Jesse is gone and I need things to do.

We had some really beautiful weather last weekend and I think it reminded me that the warm, blue skied weather is coming, so I should get a lot of movie watching/reading done now so that I won’t be trying to do it when I should be enjoying the beautiful outdoors. Thankfully, reading at the park is nice on a sunny day – the number of books on my to-read list is pretty much never ending.

Our 3rd Anniversary

It’s amazing to me that we’ve been married for 3 years now! This year for our anniversary we took a trip to the coast. We stayed at a really awesome place – The Inn at Manzanita and enjoyed checking out all the little shops in town. We were even able to get a gluten free pizza from The Pizza Garden in Nehelem! The day we went to Cannon Beach  it was raining buckets sideways, but we managed to check out a few shops anyway.

The best part: spending 3 days entirely with Jesse – no computer, no phone, no interruptions – celebrating 3 years of marriage and a total of 8 years together!

My Husband the Chiropractor!

I have to tell you how proud I am. Jesse finished up chiropractic school on March 24th. This week he picked up his diploma. Today he mailed off all the paperwork to start the Washington State licensing process.

This is such an amazing accomplishment – especially when you consider that he’s probably more excited now about his chosen career than he was before (ah, being free of school is wonderful). I just know he’s going to love being out in practice.

Jesse is headed to San Diego to work with a wonderful doctor during May and June and will (hopefully) be setting up shop once he gets back. I think we’re both hoping he’ll have his practice open by the end of August! It really blows my mind. I know we’ve been up here for a while, but I still can’t believe he’s done!

2009 Goals: 3 months in

1. Recommit to Flylady - Flylady is back in my court. This is my first full week being in charge, but so far it’s going ok.

2. Continual Reassessment of Finances - We’ve finished our first set of meetings with the financial planner. We’re evaluating life insurance options. We’ve still got our $20K and now our plans for spending that down are starting to emerge as well…

3. Run 250 miles - ~13 miles in March (45 for the year now) – still below my goal of ~20, but I’ll get there. I did manage to find a running jacket for the rain – and I even went out in the rain one day!

4. Watch AFI’s 100 Years, 100 Movies Top 10 - First 2 (Citizen Kane & Godfather) down! I also watched several Audrey Hepburn movies I hadn’t seen before that I enjoyed quite a bit (Charade, How to Steal a Million, Wait Until Dark).

5. Find 5 Ways that I Want to Give Every Year - Still just Goodwill donations & the Red Cross. Sadly my last blood donation didn’t happen because I was low on iron! And now with our future plans set up a little more I need to reschedule my next donation since I’ll be in San Diego.
