Friday night Jesse and I went out blackberry picking in our neighborhood. We picked more than enough for the Blackberry Roulade in the Martha Stewart Baking Handbook. I put together the cake on Saturday and I have to say, it was easy (though you must have a stand mixer!) and totally delicious. I did make a mess with the powdered sugar that you spread on a towel (you then roll up the cake in the towel), but it was well worth it. I should have taken a picture. So far, everything we’ve made out of that book has been delicious. I can’t wait to try something else!
Nicole, you guys should go to Priest Lake and go Huckleberrying. I can give you a place to go to if you’re ever interested in it. The lake is beautiful and there’s a great resort up there. Plus, the huckleberry ice cream shakes are great. as are the purple mashed potatos come to think of it…
